From my observations, Doctor, this is not a style of dance you do with random partners.

[ He folds his hands behind his back and simply keeps his stoic face. ] I do not believe this dance was suited for Vulcans. [ Or any Earth dance for that matter. ]

Enlighten me, then. What is a dance that's well-suited for Vulcans?

Shaking his head a little, folded arms staying resolutely put, Leonard was torn between actually wanting to help the damn supercomputer (for Uhura's sake, he told himself...), and being a little bit amused at his plight.

Granted, somehow (thanks to Jim, of course, that damn kid), this had become both their plights. and that made it a little less amusing.]

You're gonna have to give it a try, one way or another. Unless you plan on disappointing the Lieutenant.

There is no dance suited for Vulcans. Dancing is purely emotional. Such things are not logical and are frowned upon in Vulcan society. [ He pauses. ] However, I would imagine that the most suitable would be a waltz. Without the romantic overtones, of course.

[ Physical touch was not something most Vulcans did (given their touch telepathy). Therefore dancing was ruled out. However, he was half Vulcan and half Human. Which meant that there were times - namely when Jim or Nyota were involved - that he would indulge his human side. Not to mention it was one of the few things he had left from his mother.

Spock often wonders about Jim's interest in his personal life. Especially when he himself is involved with a member of his crew. ]

I have no intentions of disappointing Lieutenant Uhura. She understands that this is not the Vulcan way. [ He quickly glances at McCoy. ] And yet these dances are done with those that you are familiar with. Given you are the only one I know here, and you would be vastly opposed to the notion, the idea of attempting it tonight has been ruled out.
