Date: 2013-08-21 12:33 am (UTC)She drew back and curtsied, over dramatically at this point, but all in good fun.]
One of your finer ideas, my dear, if I do say so myself!

Date: 2013-08-21 12:45 am (UTC)[He decided, chuckling again at the memory of an especially good line, that seemed to relate to their Eagle well.]
Bossuet is with us in spirit, isn't it so? He is the break in the wheel that paaused us unluckily, but afforded us such a joyful moment.

Date: 2013-08-21 01:31 am (UTC)[She paused a moment, thoughtful and smiling.]
We should, of course, return his favor upon our return. Even if he is not aware of his presence here.

Date: 2013-08-24 07:50 am (UTC)[He couldn't help but give her waist a squeeze round, gentle and very pleased.]
How does the clever mademoiselle suggest we return his favour to us?

Date: 2013-08-24 04:36 pm (UTC)[He'd never want to deny Bossuet any form of joy, but speaking strictly as someone who had seen him dance before... he was not sure that anything beyond stepped-on toes and stubbed knees came out of it, for either partner.]
The supper is an outstanding idea; first class, yes! But something safer than dancing might not go amiss.

Date: 2013-08-24 05:35 pm (UTC)I said nothing about me being the dance partner, my darling. I will provide the music!
[Teasing, of course, with a small laugh.]

Date: 2013-08-24 05:50 pm (UTC)Ah, ah! So you've made me the martyr, is that it? Women are a cruel breed! But if it will please you, I will give him the invitation. How I will lead someone so very tall, I am not yet sure, but I am keen upon invention. Only, you must promise you will draw a bucket of cool water for my feet after-- to prevent the gangrene setting in, you know, from wounds inflicted.

Date: 2013-08-24 06:29 pm (UTC)We have but all of our holiday to think of an even better form of repayment, I'm sure we will come up with something, my dear. Do not fret so, I would not allow you such grievous injuries just to bring a smile to my lips. Not when you are so excellent at it otherwise!
no subject
Date: 2013-08-24 06:49 pm (UTC)Instead, he simply stayed where he was.]
If it would surely bring a smile to your lips, then I am nearly honour-bound to do it, I daresay. This is the sort of witchcraft you have, darling girl. Anything to be done to make you so much as glance at happiness, why, it must be done at once.

Date: 2013-08-24 07:27 pm (UTC)[She turned her head a little in order to press a kiss to the top of his with a pleased hum.]

Date: 2013-08-24 07:31 pm (UTC)[He turned, to press a kiss to her cheek as thanks, no less pleased by the action.]
What say we bring him a souviner, eh?

Date: 2013-08-24 07:36 pm (UTC)[She hummed again, pressing closer to that kiss.]

Date: 2013-08-24 07:41 pm (UTC)[reaching down to take her hand to give her another little sway, he went on, waxing a bit sentimental;]
I imagine we'll make a very proper sort of little family of things, when I am able to open a practice outside of Paris, in a place like this. Much slower, hereabouts! I daresay one might miss the bustle of the city easily, but I am wont to think that there's a greatness to happy domestics that trumps even the fashion and noise of our good city.

Date: 2013-08-25 03:41 am (UTC)Oh, but who needs the bustle and fashion of the city when I will not only have you, but our darling eagle as well? I look forward to the day and will even boldly dream of it.

Date: 2013-08-26 01:47 am (UTC)[And, to be frightfully honest, as much as exposure to the ill made him dizzy with worry, he should never quit it. Not when there were people who did need help, and his girl, who shouldn't have to work to the bone so as she did, and their boy, who already fell short of the law.
It was, perhaps, only in her company that he did not feel silly talking about his little dream, as it was little by the sums of some weak minds, or sounded like that of an old (and perhaps eccentric) man. No matter! He was quite taken with it, and with her humming, and had a good idea of what should follow for them.]

Date: 2013-08-26 05:41 am (UTC)[She assured him this softly in between humming the tune to the song on her mind. She brought her hand from his shoulder up to his cheek, stroking it lightly and smiling. She only dared to dream when she was with her men, that seemed the only truly safe time to do so.]

Date: 2013-08-26 05:49 am (UTC)[It seemed the very sort of thing to really suit them. Entirely unnatural to the general way of things, yes, to have a little nook with a mistress and... well, a Monsieur, but anyway.
Such a little clinic, beside a house, with a garden and a large dining room, that would be wonderful.]
There shall have to be a piano. What do you think of that, hm?
no subject
Date: 2013-08-26 01:28 pm (UTC)[With a quaint little picnic area in the garden, where she could serve lunch to her two gentlemen. Where they could spend the rest of their lives without want or worry.]
And we will have to keep Bossuet away from it as well.
no subject
Date: 2013-08-26 05:20 pm (UTC)[And really, he meant it. Even if the sounds were sad and sagging at first, the progress of such a music and its meaning for their situation would only be pleasurable for him.]
We shall have to keep Bossuet away from everything, alas. Himself most especially. Conscripted to rather full-time jobs, with that.

Date: 2013-08-26 10:17 pm (UTC)[Though she smiled as he continued the joke about their darling eagle. She reached up with the hand that was on his cheek and brushed his hair away.]
We shall find a way to keep him busy, I'm certain that we can manage even that. He will understand, especially if it means that he will not be plagued by his usual luck.

Date: 2013-08-27 03:47 am (UTC)[They waited rather a good deal of time for him to learn medicine, and he was rather frantic with the study; his patience in return was only fair.]
Promise only not to ruin our ears, or your dainty hands. [Smiled, going to take one such hand and run a thumb over the fingers.]
Bah! He has the greatest luck in the world, after all, and so do we, if we're to live in such a place.
no subject
Date: 2013-08-27 03:51 am (UTC)[She smiles as he runs the thumb over her fingers, closing her eyes for but a moment.]
He has the greatest luck because he has us... Or perhaps it is we who are the lucky ones, hm?

Date: 2013-08-27 04:05 am (UTC)[Squinting up, he wrinkled his nose.]
Have we taken in enough sun? Perhaps we ought to get back into the carriage before obtaining heat stroke?

Date: 2013-08-27 04:16 am (UTC)I must agree... This weather was not intended for prolonged periods of time.
