Alarming, perhaps... But they do not bother us and we do not bother them! They'd sooner keep their distance to be perfectly honest.

[Taking the spice in her hand she went to smell it, smiling at the aroma.]

On occasion I have, but not roasted such as this. It's healthful? In what ways?

Cinnamon is good for regulating blood flow, cardamom stimulates digestive health, nutmeg alleviates pain and headache, clove is anti-inflammatory, and anise simply tastes good.

[He gave, with a shrug and a smile.]

Though your physiology may be different, eh, my girl?

[Her eyebrows shot up and she nodded, smiling as he gave answers to her question.]

I see... And it may be, I will admit I've never truly given much thought to the differences between us... But now I'm finding there are many.

[She holds this cinnamon back out to him.]

You, Theo, are quite an interesting man aren't you?

[He took it back with another swift smile, put it into the pot, and went to (carefully!) place the tin over the fireplace, to warm. With a chuckle,]

I don't know about all that, 'Chetta! You, after all, are a mermaid; it makes you more interesting than me.

Besides, you're also a woman. Doubly, doubly more interesting, yes, that you are.

[And again she followed him, taking his hand in hers after he set the pot over the fireplace.]

We both find the other fascinating, since neither of us are used to these circumstances. But you must be interesting if I found myself compelled to follow your ship and watch you on the beach.

[Entwining their fingers as a matter of course, his eyes twinkled when he glanced at her, catching onto that little confession. Bringing their hands up, he gave a kiss to her knuckles.]

You were at the beach just to watch me! I am flattered and abashed, little miss. Why, the more you speak, the more I should very much like to keep you. You have precious turns of phrases! And you wear my coat better than I do.

[She brightened at the kiss to her knuckles, squeezing his hand gently.]

You would keep me, would you? Isn't it too soon to say such things, monsieur? And dare I say I would wear far more than your coat on a day to day basis if you were to keep me.

[Suggested coyly as she swayed a little in place before him.]

You really are a charming fellow. I should like to keep you myself, if this is the case.

Never too soon, my girl! We have but short lives, and we are attractive and virile for less of them than even that. When you have found a very witty, amiable little thing, best to say you'd keep it, least it skip away.

[He smiled again and went to have a seat, but did not release her hand, nudging so that she might sit with him in the chair, if she was intent to stay close.]

Alas! I do not have gills, and would drown, or freeze.

I have no intention of skipping away, particularly not after such perfect reasoning.

[And she did remain close, resting first against the arm of the chair before deciding sitting sideways in his lap would be far more comfortable.]

And that fate would be entirely against the point of me keeping you... Regardless, I would wish to keep you on land so we needn't fuss over the logistics of underwater life.

[Much better! He agreed. Draping an arm across her waist, he leaned in, giving her a shady look.]

Well, you know, only one thing to do if you agree with me then, hm?

[cruelpatience]

[She mimicked the action, raising her eyebrow as her lips curved upward.]

And what might that be, pray tell?

[fliesonfour]

Absolutely, you must kiss me. To see if it is right, and so that you do not turn into sea-foam, or however the story goes-- I don't have a memory for stories.

[cruelpatience]

You'll have to tell me the story when you remember it.

[She quipped with a small grin... But she didn't muse over it any longer, instead closing the distance and kissing him. Properly.]

[Luckily, she'd saved him the need for a reply. Hm!

Tucking his chin up, he returned the kiss, drumming a finger against her hand. When the proper kiss was through, he pulled away and gave a nod, quirking a smile at her.]

I'd say it was more than agreeable, and that you are delightful, and I have forgotten all about being cold.

[She moved her other hand up, resting near his ear so her thumb could trace over the top of his jaw line.]

Oh! I have forgotten that you were cold as well! You are rather warm to the touch, after all... and I should like to try the kiss again.

I should like that too, I daresay. Then: I attend.

[He'd lean up to replace a second kiss to her mouth, pulling her a little nearer and more comfortably into his lap.]

[She shifted easily enough as he tugged her closer, parting her lips and deepening the kiss as he'd allow. Her eyes remained closed, but her hand at his cheek moved to the back of his head, fingers threading in his hair.]

[He hummed at the hand in his hair and reached around to better feel the arch of her leg, half-hidden beneath the coat. He had absolutely no trouble with keeping up with the kiss, nor with deepening it; and what a feisty woman, to also not mind!]

[The hand at her leg earned a small sound from her, muffled by their kiss. She would be amused if he called her feisty out loud, but until then, she could only continue their kiss. She enjoyed it more and more by the moment until she had to pull away to catch her breath. Smiling coyly once more, she scratched her nails lightly against his scalp and kept her nose just barely touching his as she admitted breathlessly:]

Yes, these are more than agreeable kisses.

More than...

[He murmured, peeking open an eye, all agreement. Contrary to what he'd imagined, she wasn't very cold, and her lips felt delightful and soft. There was maybe the slight taste of sea-salt, but he'd been so long on a ship, that what did he taste it?

Pressing his nose against hers and nudging, he commented,]

Well. We will have to buy you a dress, it is settled; I think I may mean to keep you.

[cruelpatience]

[Emboldened by their shared kisses, she nuzzled her nose against his cheek, then his neck.]

And I may just let you... But I'm suddenly much warmer than I was earlier, would it be terrible if I was that immodest lady and returned your jacket to you now?

[Inquired as she pressed a few kisses along his neck tentatively.]

It would be terrible, yes. But I am a terrible man, and so, nothing is the matter here.

[Giving her knee a tap, he nodded to the fire.]

I will fetch that for us, and why don't you find yourself a more comfortable spot, upon the bed? If we are being immodest, pardon me; we must do it hedonistically, and be very comfortable, laying down and drinking.

[cruelpatience]

[She laughed and nodded, slipping from his lap to stand up.]

Oh of course, we must go all out if we are to be truly terrible.

[Offering him help up, she made her way over to the bed as soon as he started toward the fire. It was an easy task, unbuttoning the jacket and slipping it from her frame, allowing it to rest from the nearest hook.

When he would turn back to her, he'd find her laying across the bed, watching him curiously, but entirely nude as he'd found her.]

[He got the drinks into two little cups, careful not to burn himself, before replacing the tin somewhere safe. Picking either up and heading to the bed, he felt his breath catch at the very sight of her, before he gave an appreciative nod.]

You are extraordinarily beautiful, you know! Marvelous.

[cruelpatience]

[She shifted a little, smiling bashfully at his compliments as he headed over to her.]

You charm me, monsieur.

[Shifting to sit up, she licked her lips and held out her hands to take the cup.]
