[There's a little, worried hum at that. It really-- is an awful idea.

But unfortunately, he isn't a law student, and deals are not his strong suit. As he feared getting ill as much as he feared someone close to him being ill, such a trinket was, perhaps, invaluable.

Making a little bit of a grimace, and looking from the God to the crystal bemusedly, he finally nodded.]

Then... my agreement is yours, I suppose.

[Apollo promptly pulls Joly close and kisses him square on the mouth. It is quite possibly one the best kisses the student has ever had, or at least the most exhilarating, since the kiss comes with the added bonus of a clean bill of health]

[It's exhilarating in a horrifying way at first, mostly because Joly isn't well used to being grabbed up by Grecian Gods of Disease and properly kissed.

...Who is used to that, really?

It takes a second for it to click that this might be the price, and less than a second for it to begin feeling a bit too good, and then for him to return it.

He's French, after all. He's rather sure they invented the proper way of kissing, and he's already touted that French boys are nearly so good as the girls. Therefore, it would be criminal not to at least try to give as good as he had gotten; he would have time to be baffled after.]

[Indeed they did. Apollo really does love French boys the best. Spanish women are tied with the mademoiselles in his mind, but the boys? No competition at all.

He pulls Joly closer as they kiss, feeling rather shameless. No one is going to see them, after all, and dammit he's a god. He can do what he wants]

[No one in the room currently was going to argue with Mssr. Fires Sunbolts From His Hands about what he was and was not allowed to do, certainly. And as it is a rather wonderful kiss, anyway, Joly didn't find he minded being pulled a bit nearer, or keeping up with it. At this point, he's rather skilled in the art of passionate kissing anyway; it's no trouble to transfer that level of energy and skill onto someone who was peddling health in return for it. Even if he did have to go onto his toes just a touch to do it.]

As wonderful as the kiss is, Apollo knows that Joly will need to break for air eventually. Just as it's reaching that point, he pulls away a bit]

[--Which leaves him a little breathless, which in turn panics him for only a moment until he can get his breathing back under control.

Heart rates, you know.

Though now that he has autonomy over his mouth again--]

[Colour him surprised that word hasn't gotten out and people still remained frightened, case by case or no. Very lenient. Not unpleasant.]

[He hands the crystal to Joly]

And you, monsieur, are very appealing.

[He sports a lively grin at that, and laughs cheerfully, shrugging his shoulders up as he goes to gingerly take the crystal.]

Flattered! I don't often hear that from Gods every once in a while, you know. You're flirts! As the stories warn, hey.

[Gave, with a more teasing smile and a brief look down.]

Thank you, though. For this. Your technique rather isn't so bad either! By the by.

[He smiles]

I should hope it isn't. Several thousand years and twice as many lovers--including a few wives--leaves one rather talented, I'd say.

Two is rather already a handful for me, several thousand might lay me out for good. We will leave that to you, then. Are you sure you aren't French?

[A smile.]

You sound French.

You got me. When the Romans moved into what is now France, I found myself much more comfortable here than I ever had been in Italy. To be honest, I rarely leave.

Ah! Well. Your kiss gave it away, really. Too skilled to attribute to the old cities entirely, isn't it?

[He went to tuck the crystal away safely.]

And you've a friend with a wine addiction; truly, you are French in all aspects! I have a friend, I must say, who would be pale for the first time in his life with jealousy over this meeting. And not because of the crystal.

Brother who is the god of wine and is just as fond of this country as I am, though admittedly for different reasons.

[He pauses, looking like a statue for a few moments, before nodding and laughing a bit. He was looking to see who that friend was]

Our red wines are nearly as good as our boys. They rank third on the list, though slightly higher than our cheeses.

[He takes this list seriously.

Joly then grinned, and nudged him good-naturedly.]

You're rather nosy. But it saves me the trouble of describing him, now doesn't it? Very much so. I think I shalln't tell him, really. Out of kindness.

[He might tell Bossuet though. ...But Bossuet might genuinely worry for his health if he did.]

Oh, please don't. I may end up meeting him myself, and...I will admit that the reactions of Romantics and daydreamers are some of my favorites. I've had three grown men swoon, as if they were a particularly weak woman or a child!

I'm sure you'll find no lack of swooning to amuse yourself with there, just promise me you catch the swooners? While I can do much more for a broken nose than a broken heart, I prefer not to let any of my dear friends become intimate with the floor in that brutal manner.

Oh, I catch them. Broken noses and blackened eyes are not terribly attractive on most men and women simply can't get up on their own, with their corsets and large skirts.

A very kind God! And very merry, I see. I might say I greatly prefer you to the one preached in the churches.

You know, my Mademoiselle dresses very well, very properly, and I daresay she could jump up from off the floor. My Monsieur barely wears a stitch of good cloth on him, all very loose, and I daresay he'd simply fall over again if he tried. I know some backwards people.

You are also a medical student who fears illness and death. Most of that sort would avoid practicing medicine, you know.

Well, I didn't know it was exactly so fearful until I'd gotten started.

[A pause, wetting his lips, and then with sudden seriousness--]

And better to keep learning it then, as I wouldn't allow for any of my backwards people to grow ill or injured without help... That just won't be the case.

[He smiles a bit. Apollo is terribly loyal and protective of his family. Joly's comment simply makes him like the young man even more]

Then I suggest you advise your monsieur to abstain from oysters and the mademoiselle should take care to avoid bees.

[He looked down and smiled almost modestly for a moment, all fondness. He was not shy about just how fond he was, of either his dear pair, or any of his friends.]

That will be difficult; he does like oysters. I would eat them all for him, but he'd certainly call me names then and not see it our way. The Mademoiselle is not as fond of bees as he is of oysters, so that will be less troublesome.

Do you have yourself a forever-someone then, Monsieur?

[Apollo loses a bit of that light he's had. He's still glowing, since god of light and all, but it's decidedly...less]

It...no, sadly. I do not. I am not allowed to marry the Muses, much as I would like to, and other than them I rarely have such luck.
